Old banners, a new working opportunity
A banner has a short public life, but its coated fabric can remain useful after the event is over. Dorka Bags cuts old printed banners and sews them into bags. The pieces of existing lettering make each bag different even when the pattern is repeated.
SK SlovakiaIn practice. Dorka Bags combines banner reuse with supported sewing work in Košice.
What to keep in view
Models and materials vary. A product sale alone does not measure wider employment outcomes.
A workshop shapes two kinds of value
The project provides a structured way for women connected with a crisis centre to gain paid work or practice in a workshop setting. The fabric sets limits on where a pattern can be cut and which print will be visible. Selling a finished bag gives that material and the work behind it a market.
