A sorting room gives textiles another working life
Before a garment can be worn again or turned into another product, someone has to inspect and sort it. Humana Nova puts that work inside a cooperative in Čakovec. Its operation links the material choices of a textile business to a deliberate approach to employment.
HR CroatiaIn practice. The Čakovec cooperative connects textile recovery with work adapted to its employees.
What to keep in view
Reuse, processing and recycling are different outcomes. A collection total alone cannot show which route a textile followed.
Different textiles need different routes
Wearable pieces can continue as clothes. Other material can enter sewing or further processing, depending on condition and composition. Sorting makes those decisions possible. The cooperative also adapts work to its team, including people with disabilities, making the organisation of the work part of the innovation.
