Shared curiosity.
A European perspective.
A European edit of design, places and ideas that change how we live, move and connect.
A place to find
a different way.
A different way to move through a city. To make a product last. To work, to learn, or to access a place that was once out of reach.
Europe Innovate is owned by Innovation Authority Ltd. We share its curiosity about innovation and its attention to the evidence. This is our distinct European publication: a closer view of the people, places and projects across the continent.
Our European perspective extends beyond the European Union. Switzerland, Norway, the United Kingdom and other countries outside the European Union are part of that perspective. Our collection spans 45 countries, wholly or mainly in geographical Europe, including microstates. Cyprus is included as an EU-member exception, with coverage focused on areas under the effective control of the Republic of Cyprus. Each country offers a starting point. The selection is an invitation to explore, not a ranking of countries or a complete inventory of their innovation.
Find your first countryCuriosity, with care.
Make the idea clear.
What does it actually do? Where is it being used? Begin with the concrete project and the problem it addresses.
Find the possibility.
Explain what makes an approach worth attention. Our editorial interpretation is a way into a subject, not proof of an outcome.
Keep the sources close.
Link to primary sources, identify company claims and make limitations visible. Give every reader a useful way to investigate further.
Read the stage.
Follow the evidence.
A compelling idea and a proven result are different things. The stage on each story describes the example documented in its sources. It is not a live availability indicator, a quality score or a claim that every project should follow the same path.
- Implemented
- A product, service or built project put into practice. This does not guarantee current availability or independently proven impact.
- Pilot
- A trial in a real setting. Its dates and conditions matter; a pilot does not establish wider deployment.
- Prototype
- A working model or demonstrator. A successful demonstration is not the same as a production-ready product.
- Research
- An investigation or research programme. Its contribution is knowledge or experimental capability.
- In development
- Development, ordering or planned production is documented; delivery at the proposed scale is not established here.
- Historical example
- An earlier design or programme. The story does not imply that the original product or service is still available.
Where we highlight a result or milestone, we identify who reported it, the period it describes and what it can actually demonstrate. A factory’s capacity is not its annual output; a supplier’s reported use count is not an independent environmental assessment.
“Sources reviewed” dates a check of the story’s listed sources. “Evidence checked” dates the particular result or milestone highlighted in an evidence note. “Edited” records a revision to the story; it does not, on its own, mean its sources were checked again.
This approach shares Innovation Authority’s distinction between evidence and interpretation.
Our connections between stories are editorial comparisons. They explain a shared question or a useful difference; they do not claim that one project inspired, supplied or partnered with another.
Part of a
wider conversation.
Innovation Authority looks at innovations worldwide. Europe Innovate gives that curiosity a distinct European home, with country-led discovery and focused editorial stories.
The projects we cover are independent organisations. Inclusion is editorial coverage and does not imply a partnership, certification or endorsement. If you spot an error or have a useful update, contact our editorial team with the story and the relevant source.
