A library inside the daily commute
Rail stations are designed around departures. Stacja Kultura gives people a reason to stay. The library occupies space within Rumia’s station building, where someone already travelling through town can also borrow a book or sit down to work.
PL PolandIn practice. Rumia’s library puts reading and study inside a railway-station building.
What to keep in view
Library and train services have separate schedules and areas of operation.
The signs of a former journey
Desks, shelving and lighting divide the interior into places for study and browsing. Its open volume and railway references keep the setting legible. The conversion makes a library easier to combine with an ordinary route through town instead of treating a visit as a separate trip.
