CastPrintDocumented stage: Research
A lighter shape starts with a computer model
An orthosis can be shaped to fit a scan. CastPrint and its Latvian research partners tested a second design question: where does the printed support need material to do its job?

In practice. The FF4EuroHPC project tested and implemented a numerical design workflow for custom orthopaedic devices.
What to keep in view
The photograph shows the optimised device from the project report. The experiment evaluated design and production, and does not establish healing outcomes or suitability for a particular patient.
Test the shape before printing
CastPrint and its Latvian research partners tested a design workflow that uses computer models to study how forces pass through an orthosis. The team adjusted where material was needed, validated the models and integrated the workflow into manufacturing.
