Give an exhibition a place to be made.
An exhibition is the visible end of a much longer process. Autostrada Hangar opens space for the making, testing and learning that come before it.
XK KosovoIn practice. An education, production and exhibition space at the Innovation and Training Park in Prizren, established through the reuse of former military infrastructure.
What to keep in view
The sources establish the venue and programme, not independently measured employment outcomes or equal access for every potential participant.
Keep production close to public culture
Autostrada Hangar extends the work of Autostrada Biennale beyond the periodic exhibition. At Prizren’s Innovation and Training Park, it brings workshop equipment, technical facilities and learning space into former military hangars.
The organisation describes hands-on training and the production of artworks alongside exhibitions and other public activities. Young people can encounter the practical work behind an exhibition, not only its finished objects. The space connects cultural programming to skills that can be exercised on site.
Make reuse a continuing activity
Converting a hangar is only the physical beginning. Equipment, instruction, access and a programme of work are what turn the shell into useful infrastructure. A building can be reopened while still leaving its intended community without a meaningful role.
The model is interesting because production and participation have a shared address. Its success should be assessed through the continuity and quality of that work, rather than the photograph of a completed refurbishment alone.
