Put digital skills on the timetable.
A digital-skills programme reaches further when it travels through ordinary schools. Tekwill in Every School brings courses, teacher support and practical projects into Moldova’s education network.
MD MoldovaIn practice. A school-based programme with documented student projects. A 2024 report follows a Florești team from an app-development course to an international competition.
What to keep in view
School participation is not the same as completion, equal access or measured learning gains.
Connect a course with something students can make
The programme works with schools and teachers to offer optional digital and entrepreneurial learning. Its value is not only access to information: students need a sequence of tasks, guidance and time to develop work they can show.
One documented example comes from Miron Costin High School in Florești. Tekwill’s August 2024 report describes students Laura Burduja and Daniela Grosu, supported by teacher Tatiana Rotari, developing SpotOnFocus after taking the Mobile Application Design and Development course. Their study-planning app became a project for the e-ICON competition in South Korea.
Judge the learning beyond the showcase
That is a useful trace from a named course to a named student project. It is not evidence that every participating school achieves the same result, or that the app improved academic performance. The report describes participation in the event, not a competition win.
Our reading: a distributed programme needs more than a central technology hub. Teachers need usable materials and support, and pupils need equipment and opportunities to practise. A promising project illustrates what that combination can make possible; wider evaluation would need to examine access, sustained participation and what students can do afterwards.
For another country, the lesson is to connect the curriculum, the teacher and the practical outcome. Copying a course title would leave most of that work unfinished.
Programme-documented project · Reported 7 August 2024
A school course became a working app project
Tekwill’s August 2024 account follows a Florești team developing SpotOnFocus after a mobile-app course and taking the project to e-ICON in South Korea.
What this tells us. This is one named student project. The report does not establish a competition win or measured improvement in learning outcomes.
