REUSEABLE AarhusDocumented stage: Pilot
A coffee cup you can return on another errand
Aarhus gives takeaway cups a shared route back. A customer leaves a deposit, and the cup can be returned through the network before washing and redistribution.

In practice. Aarhus’s trial uses participating cafés and shared return machines to collect reusable takeaway cups.
What to keep in view
Check current participating outlets and deposit rules. Environmental comparisons depend on the full return and washing cycle.
The return is part of the route
The difference is most apparent once the coffee is finished. The next return point can be on the customer’s existing route, while the operators take responsibility for getting clean cups back to cafés.
