Glass from appliances becomes a room divider
Appliance glass arrives with colours and properties that differ from a uniform batch of new glass. Forite uses that variation in translucent tiles. Studio Plastique, Snøhetta and Fornace Brioni brought material research, design and manufacture together across Belgium, Norway and Italy.

In practice. Studio Plastique, Snøhetta and Fornace Brioni developed tiles using variable glass from discarded appliances.
What to keep in view
The project documents material development and collaboration. Check current availability with the makers.
The glass can still carry light
Look at a tile against light and then at an assembly from a distance. The first shows the fragments and the second shows what happens when they are repeated across an interior. A built assembly gives a better sense of the intended use than a sample alone.
