Fish, plants and a roof put to work
The greenhouse at Foodmet sits over an operating market. BIGH built the rooftop site around aquaponics, bringing fish and crop production into one installation. The greenhouse puts productive space next to a place that already brings people and food together.

What to keep in view
The built system does not establish zero waste or zero inputs. Check current operations with the operator before planning a visit.
A connection that still needs inputs
Aquaponics uses the nutrient stream associated with fish to support plants after appropriate treatment. The site also describes harvesting rain and using energy resources available at the building. An installation like this still has to manage water chemistry, food, electricity, filtration and the changing conditions of a greenhouse.
